Expectation v. Reality

Expectation – perfect outfits, matching Hunter boots, adorable family photos, beautiful fall weather.

Reality – Fynn jumped in a puddle within 30 seconds of being at the farm – sprayed mud on us all, it was f-ing freezing and I had a slight hangover from 2 glasses of wine the night before.   OH, and I was having an awful hair day! 

All in all, we had a lot of fun at the pumpkin patch.  The smiles are real and the laughs are a result of a few dirty jokes (hey, have to look authentic in the pictures).  My husband works away 75% of the year, so these special family moments are really cherished.  Fall is my favorite time of year, and our annual trip to the pumpkin patch is my absolute favorite, and now my son’s favorite.  I bribed my husband to dress a certain way and smile for the camera … kidding, he is a great sport.

Can I just add that this Aritzia sweater is the absolutely perfect piece for colder days? It was F R E E Z I N G during our pumpkin patch escapade and the thickly woven wool is so warm and perfect for the changing weather.  And hey, it looked pretty damn cute for the pics!!  

Life is too precious and short to miss these precious moments.  If I can give any advice it would be: 

1. Bring a photographer sometimes to capture the moment (use Natalie Dollman, she's super hilarious and fun to work with and never makes it feel cheesy or awkward). 

2. Our kids are dicks, they are going to jump in the puddles no matter what.

3. Bribe your husband (beer, sex, sports? whatever), he will wear just about anything... even men's Hunters.
